Field started as a personal DIY project for an alternative to Pinterest. I see the potential in it possibilities and would like to share it with the open-source community. Field is a self-hosted visual collection tool that works as a web app with a companion browser extension.
Your personal, private visual field. Collect images from anywhere.
It is a private mood board (or “moodboard”) that you control and access from your phone and desktop via your browser. No algorithm, no ads, no feed designed to keep you scrolling. Just a continuous visual field of everything you’ve chosen to look at.
This is only the first iteration of this project. I’m excited to continue to use it and see it how it evolves. For now, I achieved what I wanted:
- A clean, uncluttered UI
- Tagging and organizing via boards
- Uploading from my laptop, phone, and browser via a web extension
- Minimal in design and its features
I’m testing the many uses of this tool. For example, I used one of my Field boards to create the gallery on my homepage (see the screenshot below).
